TV CASTINGS: Laura Fraser Joins Showtime Pilot 'Homeland,' Two Added To 'True Blood'

EXCLUSIVE: Scottish actress Laura Fraser has landed a lead role on Showtime's drama pilot Homeland. Additionally, In Treatment standout Dane DeHaan has joined HBO's vampire drama True Blood as a recurring, while Rebecca Wisocky has been cast for a key guest spot in the fourth season premiere.

Homeland, from?24 executive producers Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, centers on Marine Sergeany Scott Brody, who returns home eight years after going missing in Iraq, and Carrie Anderson (Claire Danes), a driven CIA officer who suspects he might be plotting an attack on America. Fraser (A Knight's Tale) will play?Jessica Brody, Scott Brody's smart, strong wife. Production on the pilot, whose cast also includes Mandy Patinkin, is slated to begin Jan. 10 in Charlotte, N.C.

On True Blood, DeHaan will play Timbo, one of the teens Jason (Ryan Kwanten) takes care of in Hotshot. The part extends DeHaan's relationship with HBO. He plays Jesse on the current season of the network's drama In Treatment.?Wisocky (90210) will play Queen Mab, who is described as an elegant beauty who presides over a fantasy land and also has a temper. Wisocky will next be seen in Atlas Shrugged.

Virginia Madsen Joins NBC's 'The Event'

EXCLUSIVE: Oscar nominated actress Virginia Madsen (Sideways) is joining NBC's freshman The Event as a recurring. The actress — who's coming off of ABC's summer series Scoundrels — will play Catherine Lewis, the widow of a U.S. senator from Alaska who has assumed her husband's post. A former powerhouse attorney, the Harvard grad is determined to carry out her husband's legacy at any cost. As Deadline told you back in November, the role was originally offered to Friday Night Lights MVP Connie Britton. The Event is currently on hiatus and is slated to return to the schedule on Feb. 28. Michael Ausiello is contributing to Deadline.com and Mocieline.com as he preps for the January launch of TVLine.com, a new TV-centric website from MMC.

CBS' Nancy Tellem Joins All3Media Board

The ex-president of the CBS Network Television Group who's now a CBS Inc consultant has become a non-executive director of the UK’s largest group of independent production companies. Tellem joins All3Media at an interesting time. The company is the last big independent UK TV producer left on the market. It’s expected to be sold next year to either a Hollywood studio anxious to get more into global TV production -- such as Time Warner or Sony – or Brit broadcaster ITV, which needs to beef up its in-house production. Financiers I’ve spoken to expect the price tag to be around ￡500 million ($788 million). All3Media produces Undercover Boss for CBS and Skins for MTV.

Fiona Shaw Joins 'True Blood' As Regular

EXCLUSIVE: This is major news for True Blood fans. The new regular role on the HBO vampire series for next season went to veteran Irish theater actress and director Fiona Shaw who is probably best known in the U.S. for her role as Aunt Petunia in the Harry Potter movies. On True Blood, she will play Marnie, a mousy, timid and secretly self loathing?storefront medium and palm reader who is taken over by the spirit of a powerful witch. The character was originally envisioned younger but is being adjusted for Shaw. Shaw is currently onstage at Dublin's Abbey Theatre in a limited engagement of Henrik Ibsen's John Gabriel Borkman opposite Alan Rickman and Lindsay Duncan. On U.S. television, she previosly co-starred on ABC's limited series Empire.
