EXCLUSIVE: Former Ugly Betty star Eric Mabius has joined the cast of TNT's drama pilot Bird Dog, while Carla Gallo (Get Him to the Greek) is set to co-star opposite Amanda Walsh in the CW pilot Danni Lowinski. Mike Robe's Bird Dog centers on Gail McGrath (Ashley Williams), a patrolling officer whose new partner is her cop dad Sam McGrath (Gerald McRaney). Mabius will play Tim Burke, the boyishly handsome County Sheriff who is secretly attracted to Gail. Mabius, repped by ICM and manager Geordie Frey, recently wrapped the BBC series Outcasts and the NBC-themed feature Amazing. 
Danni Lowinski is named after the series' central character: a scrappy hairdresser (Walsh) who graduates from law school but is brushed off by law firms and sets up her own practice in a shopping mall kiosk. Gallo will play her best friend Kaz who is brassy, a little slutty and fiercely protective of Danni. Gallo, repped by Global Artists and manager Stacy Abrams, recurred on Men of a Certain Age as? Scott Bakula’s younger girlfriend, on Bones as John Francis Daley’s love interest and on Californication as a quirky porn star.
